SPARK theater + dance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit performing arts company led by founding artistic directors Corey + Betsy Mills. Our mission is to create and perform theater and dance, to notice and nurture the gifts within individuals, and to be a community.
Meet the people of SPARK
Corey holds a B.A. in Theater from St. Cloud State University (MN) and is the Co-Artistic Director of SPARK theater + dance along with his wife, Betsy. Corey has been creating and performing theater in the Minneapolis metro area for over 18 years. He was a company member of JAZZDANCE! by Danny Buraczeski for four years, and is a playwright and improvisational acting instructor. His favorite creations are his two children, Lily and Jon!
Betsy Mills is the Co-Artistic Director of SPARK theater + dance, which she founded with her husband Corey and their two beloved children in 2006. She has a BFA in Dance from the University of Minnesota and has completed YWAM’s School of Dance. In addition to her own choreography, she has performed with Garner Gutierrez-Garner Dance, Anointed Soles, SPARK theater + dance, and Jolene Konkel in venues such as the Southern Theater, Patrick’s Cabaret, Bryant Lake Bowl, the Capri Theater and in the Minnesota Fringe. She has choreographed for local theater companies Theater for the Thirsty, Open Window Theatre, and Homeward Bound Theatre, as well as taught dance classes and choreographed for local schools and churches including Valley View Middle School, Minneapolis Public Schools, Zenon Dance Company and School, and Sanctuary Covenant Church.
